The successful candidates will join a dedicated team of 6 Pediatric Ophthalmologists and 4 Optometrists who manage over 23,000 outpatient visits, 1,000 operations, 1,000 NICU and emergency room consults per year at 8 locations throughout Northeast Ohio. Our team provides comprehensive, compassionate vision care to children and adults with strabismus whose needs range from general eye exams to treatment of the most complex childhood eye diseases and disorders. Wolfe Eye Clinic is searching for a Fellowship-trained BC/BE pediatric/adult strabismus ophthalmologist to join our growing Des Moines regional practice. Our current regional professional pediatric staff includes 3 optometrists and a very busy pediatric ophthalmologist after the recent retirement of a senior pediatric ophthalmologist. This pediatric eye department is the nearest provider of these subspecialty services for a population of over one million.
 
The successful candidate for this position will join a comprehensive and subspecialty practice that includes retina, cornea, glaucoma, and oculoplastic subspecialists. The pediatric/adult strabismus referral relationships with pediatricians and other eye care providers are well-established in this practice.
 
Our pediatric eye team has over 18,000 patient visits annually. Surgical volume has increased steadily to over 800 cases annually. All surgical cases are performed in our own ophthalmology-specific six OR ASC that provides the latest in surgical technology and a staff that is 100% dedicated to eye surgery. In addition to a busy surgical and clinical practice, the successful candidate would share responsibility for local retinopathy of prematurity screenings and treatment with the other pediatric ophthalmologist and our retina fellows.

Duties & Responsibilities

Additionally, position will work collaboratively with the full spectrum of Marshfield Children’s pediatric specialists and receive referrals from our network of primary care pediatricians as well as externally.

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a pediatric ophthalmologist with a track record in healthcare leadership and program development for the position of Section Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective education programs in Pediatric Ophthalmology for medical students and residents.  Collaborate with other faculty in maintaining excellence in general pediatric education.
  • Stimulate and nurture scholarly activity within the Division and strengthen current research portfolio.
  • Expand clinical service program to meet regional needs.
  • Develop a vision for expansion and growth of current clinical services.
  • Provide leadership to support the faculty in the Division of Ophthalmology to achieve excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
  • To sustain an existing supportive and collaborative environment for other subspecialists thus facilitating programs that care for high complexity patients.
  • To support quality improvement efforts and safety initiatives within the Division and Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
  • Direct and conduct his/her own research in Pediatric Ophthalmology
  • Provide care for patients with Ophthalmologic diseases admitted to Children’s Hospital of Illinois, consultation and support to other services and manage patients in ambulatory clinics.
  • Collaborate with other ancillary services to provide high quality, safe, and individualized patient, and family centered care.
  • Perform duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and administration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO or compatible degree international medical degree
  • 3 years ophthalmology residency and 1-year AAPOS approved pediatric ophthalmology fellowship.
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois
  • Clinical experience in the field of pediatric ophthalmology
  •  Experience in teaching medical students and residents in the area of pediatric ophthalmology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven leadership credentials and track record of developing clinical programs in pediatric ophthalmology
  • Strong background in clinic/translation research

Job requirements
The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking an academically-oriented pediatric ophthalmologist to join our practice. Our practice currently includes 12 ophthalmologists specializing in Neuro, Glaucoma, Oculoplastic, Cornea, Retina, Pediatric and Comprehensive plus six (6) optometrists and 11 PhD researchers.  The Department supports 16 resident Ophthalmology training program as well as a 1 and 2 year clinical fellowship within several of our specialties (AUPO accredited).
