Zane F. Pollard, MD

Dr. Zane Pollard received his medical degree in 1966 from Tulane University where he graduated AOA. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Southern California, followed by his fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the Wills Eye Hospital. As director of the fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the James Hall Eye Center in Atlanta, Dr. Pollard trained 35 fellows, two of whom became president of AAPOS, and several have spent their careers in academics teaching at the university level. He has published over 95 articles in peer reviewed journals. He wrote his American Ophthalmological thesis on the diagnosis and treatment of persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous. He is a recipient of the Tulane School of Medicine lifetime achievement award, and he practiced pediatric ophthalmology for 47 years in Atlanta, Georgia.
