AAPOS 4th-Year Medical Student Away Rotation Award Program

AAPOS is committed to investing and inspiring future leaders of our profession!

The AAPOS Medical Student Rotation Award program is designed to provide stipends (up to $1,500 per individual) to visiting elective 4th-year medical students to support costs associated with participation in an away rotation elective in pediatric ophthalmology.  Recipients will receive the stipend upon successful completion of the rotation.

Eligibility:

  1. All applicants must be full-time 4th year medical students in good academic standing at Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) accredited US medical schools and have completed core rotations.
  2. Applicants must apply specifically for a pediatric ophthalmology rotation through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) and share acceptance letter from the host institution.
  3. Recipients will receive $375 per week of rotation, up to a maximum of $1500 for a 4-week rotation.
  4. Preference will be given to applicants whose personal statements and academic record establish their interest and commitment to pediatric ophthalmology.
  5. Application deadlines are rolling but require submission no later than 4 weeks prior to the start of the rotation.

The award applies to any pediatric ophthalmology elective away rotation available through VSLO.
