Description:

Job Description & Responsibilities:
•    Join an established group of 6 ophthalmologists and 3 optometrists. The current pediatric ophthalmologist is planning to retire and has a combined general/pediatric practice. A brand-new eye clinic is being constructed and is expected to open in early 2025
•    Current need is for a general ophthalmologist who can perform both cataract and pediatric eye surgeries.
•    Current group has pediatric, retina and glaucoma specialists
•    Support staff consists of ophthalmic technicians, LPN’s, and RN’s and are well-trained
•    On call is every 6th weekend, from Cooperstown, and rarely busy
•    Outreach clinics are attended by all ophthalmologists but are limited to only one location each
•    There is no NICU coverage required
•    Referral patterns to tertiary care ophthalmologists are well established.
•    Salary Range: $209,810 - $442,308 plus performance-based compensation. This compensation range represents Bassett Healthcare’s good faith belief of the compensation range at the time of this posting or advertisement. Children’s National Hospital (CNH) is seeking a full-time/part-time BC/BE fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologist to join our Division. This opportunity is available immediately or at any time over the next year.  Our academic affiliation is with George Washington University (GWU) and academic appointment will be commensurate with the candidate's experience. Salary and benefits are very competitive and are based on the candidate's training and experience.  The chosen candidate will be able to see patients in a variety of settings and locations in the metropolitan D.C. area while supported by their colleagues, Pediatric Optometrists, Orthoptists, Senior Ophthalmic Technicians and Technicians.  Time for Research will be provided and will be supported by our Research Coordinator. Members of our faculty will train and mentor each year two pediatric ophthalmology fellows, fourteen residents and several medical students from GWU, Georgetown University and Howard University as they rotate with us.
 
The pediatric ophthalmology division at CNH supports tertiary care throughout the mid-Atlantic region as well as specialized referrals from throughout the world. New faculty are able to quickly have their desired clinic and surgical volume that is focused on their personal interest and preferences. We have a large, top-rated NICU and a robust ROP practice supported by dedicated metro D.C. Retina specialists providing care for even the most complicated patients. Current faculty provide the entire gamut of ophthalmic care to include, glaucoma, anterior segment/cataract, oculoplastics/orbit to include ONSF, and specialized testing such as ERG. We have a dedicated Diagnostics Supervisor and every diagnostic device/modality typically found in a large University Ophthalmology Department supporting tertiary ophthalmic care.

Director of Retinopathy of Prematurity 

On behalf of Dr. Christine Finck, Surgeon-in-Chief / Peter Deckers Endowed Chair of Surgery, CareerPhysician, LLC, a leader in academic pediatric leadership recruitment, has initiated a national search to identify a talented and transformational leader to join the Division of Ophthalmology to serve as the institution’s first Director of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). 


The Director will have the responsibility to advance the regional delivery of ROP care by creating a vision to account for quality standards in screening, treatment with both laser and intravitreal injections and triage protocols to develop a nationally recognized ROP program to serve children throughout Connecticut, Upstate New York, and Western Massachusetts.
